The site doesn’t allow registrations, I just need protection when someone is hunting for a hole and trying known ways in (.e.g default admin username/pass). So if they try a url or admin username they will get caught automatically. I am aware of bots and proxies etc, so I was hoping that the feature allows perm banning of a range or specific IP. As for unknown usernames, good point about the potential DDOS it would be good to implement a captcha if the login page is not locked down by IP.
I understand there are alot of IPs, but as its automatic and only for catching then on non existant urls (know holes etc). I’m not concerned all I am concerned about is them being banned. I would want the login page to be locked down, so its blocked by all instead of addresses in the whitelist.
I am aware of the custom code, but was hoping for a more “1 click” method from your plugin instead of modifying the .htaccess file (that I can do).

Alright I just reviewed the custom code section in bps free, seems good enough for me. Basically I just want to do everything from the BPS free interface.

It would be a good idea to make this “idiot proof”. So a page:
a. Grabs server dns
b. Grabs server IP
c. Lets you enter whitelists
Basically require as little input from the user as possible to prevent errors.

Can’t add your custom code, every time I hit save it crashes my server.
I get a 403 error once I hit save and the site’s cpanel and none of the website can be accessed.
I’m only adding my sites dns, my sites ip, my ip address where it says to in your code. I have pasted it in the wp-admin top section where it talks about whitelisting etc…
As it says its adding to the “DB” first and not touching htaccess it makes me think whatever ever way its access mysql is causing the crash?
I was going to buy your premium product if this did the trick, but this error as its so severe has put me off.
I’d appreciate if you could investigate this.
