Automatic Updates in WP 3.8.1

I started receiving all these weird messages from a few of the websites I maintain like “Howdy! Your site at http://imagesinafricasafaris.com has been updated automatically to WordPress 3.8.1.”

This totally puzzled me.  And then I got a message from a site I had BPS pro installed and panic set in.  Holy crap!

Sure enough BPS did it’s job and quarantined a pile of files.  To my surprise the website was still functional (relief).

I hope I did the right thing.   I checked all files and did a restore.  Then I reset the db to clear the messages.

I guess next time I better:

/** Disable All Automatic Updates */
define( 'AUTOMATIC_UPDATER_DISABLED', true );
/** That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

I hope others had the same good luck as mine.
